A new pet is wonderful. I have two cats called Merry and Pippin named after the two rascally Hobbits in The Lord of the Rings.

I just posted a Squidoo lens on naming your ferret, but the techniques are exactly the same for naming any pet. Perhaps it will help you name your Maltese. (The link is in the Source box below.)

Reply:How about Princess Prissy Pants? But seriously, I've had many cats and I've found that if you wait a little while she'll show you what her name is by some character trait that will come through loud and clear once she's gotten comfortable with you and her new surroundings.

Example: I found two kittens in the ditch in front of my house and one could only squeak so I named him Squeak and his sister Bubble to go with the whole Bubble %26amp; Squeak thing. This was supposed to be temporary, because I wasn't sure I was going to keep them, but needed names to give at the vets office. Unfortunately, the names stuck. Squeak actually gets called Mr. Stinky Pants most of the time (I won't go into the reason.) and Bubble is Bubblicious because she's so fat and soft like a big wad of bubble gum.

Just call her kitty until she lets you know what she's really like and then it will come to you like a flash.
