Why are so many people naming their kids Jayden/Jaiden?

I swear every where and everyone is naming their child Jayden/Jaiden.

Why are so many people naming their kids Jayden/Jaiden?
i like the name jayden. more for a girl but i could see it both ways. a girl from my high school named her daughter jayden and i think it's very pretty. although my other friend's sister named her son Jaythen. it's sorta close to it.
Reply:I named my kid Jaden, he was born a week before Brittany had her son. I was devastated.





Come to find out its like #2 top name for boys last year. So much for being original!

Reply:It happens every so often that names are really popular. Jayden is extremely popular at the moment. There was 3 when I was in giving birth to my daughter. Ava also seems to be everywhere just now. But each to there own. I personally love both names but didn't want a name for my baby that a lot of other people had

I only know one Jayden, he's my cousin, however he is 15 so he was born and named long before it became popular.

Reply:Must be a popular name. Only know one personally, a cousin who is 18. At the time he was named it wasn't really popular but I agree it seems to be becoming more popular everyday.
Reply:Yeah it's become really popular! Some names do that, they go in waves up and down and some go massively up in popularity, I suspect Jayden will be on the way out soon because it's been so common and everybody knows it. I used to think it was a pretty nice name (though strangely, all the people I knew with it were really "tough guy"...lol) but I'm a bit over it now. I don't know why it became suddenly so popular and what people liked about it, I guess because it sounds quite nice and also boyish?

My sons name is Elijah, and I never heard the name (besides the lord of the rings kid!) before I had my son, now I have heard it at least a dozen or so times, and he is only 11 months!


I think we are just more aware of the name since it is our child's name!!!

I know 2 children named Jayden and it has nothing to do with Britney Spears's son either because they were born before Britney had hers. I guess the parents just liked the name. I know one boy named Jaylen too.

Reply:I totally loathe the name Jayden! Then again, I don't like any of the names that are popular now that end with "-den." It's too girly for a boy in my opinion.

My husband and I went through names and picked out our favorites separately then decided to narrow boys/girls names down to first and middle. We decided on Jaiden Mackenzie if we had a girl... and we did.
Reply:Because people like that name and if they want to use it they will. Most names go through a stage where it seems every child is called that. It is the same as my daughter's name. I chose it because i love it. It is my choice after all.
