Why do Caucasians tend to avoid naming there sons Jesus but Hispanics seem to have no problem with it?

because it's a ethnic name. it's not like it's pronounced jesus and in jesus christ or anything. it sounds like heyzeus.

Why do Caucasians tend to avoid naming there sons Jesus but Hispanics seem to have no problem with it?
Isn't it pronounced differently? Im pretty sure that would give it a different meaning.

Jesus for Caucasians is pronounced 'jee-zuz', and is referring to Jesus Christ.

But Hispanics pronounce it 'hey-zooz'

I'm pretty sure it would have a different meaning to Hispanics. I don't really know.

But for Caucasians, traditionally from Christian/Catholic countries like the USA, England, Australia, it seems a bit pretentious, and possibly disrespectful to call a child Jesus?
Reply:because they are two different cultrures, when you say caucasions you mean white european, meaning people from england ireland or possibly from germany, that is not a whit european name! IT ALSO BOTHERS ME MANY HISPANICS TRY TO PASS THEMSELVES OFF AS WHITE,THEY ARE HISPANIC AND ARE IN THE BROWN RACE,THEY ARE NOT WHITE!(CAUCASION)BUT IF YOU ARE FROM SPAIN YOU ARE CONSIDERED EUROPEAN,AND THEY SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE,BUT THEY ARE NOT MIXED WITH BLACK,(*****)MANY PEOPLE FROM PUERTO RICO HAVE BLACK BLOOD IN THEM AND ARE ALSO SPANISH THAN THEY ARE LATINO!
Reply:I for one would have much lower expectations of my child then that of the messiah, but apparently Hispanics have much higher goals and aspirations?

I guess I'm just not that presumptuous!
Reply:generally speaking, Caucasians tend to be more like moderate and on the other hand, hispanics are more traditional. Therefore, Jesus seems to them (Caucasians) as old name.
Reply:Its prounounced "Heysus" not "Jee-sus" meaning named for Jesus,

that is the difference even though the spelling is the same
Reply:I personally just don't find the name really one that I would like to name a child of mine. This isn't influenced by my religious beliefs, I just am not a huge fan of it.
Reply:Because it sounds different. My sisters husbands name is Jesus. But yes we pronounce it Hey-zoos, and we call him Gee-zus just as a joke, and it doesn't sound quite right.
Reply:who knows. its just a name. jesus was just a man. a man who did great things, sure. but still, just a man.
Reply:It could be because more than 50% of all catholics in the United States are of Hispanic descent.
Reply:Probably the same reason Hispanics don't name their kids "Adam".
Reply:Just a name some countries use Isa, Esa , Jeshua , Yeshua as equivalent but its just through choice
Reply:Different values with different cultures. But, no one names their child, God.
Reply:Because it's pronounced "Hey Zeus"....?
Reply:Ollie say because they believe God is Mexican
Reply:English never used that name they just dont- nothing bad with it, we just dont use it. I'm a white girl named Juanita :) haha
Reply:Because it is pronounced as Hey zues
Reply:because its a hispanic name...

just like whites dont call their daughters Consuela...
