Do you think naming all sort of behaviour a sickness have a negative effect on society?

I'm not familiar with all the sickness, but whenever someone adopt a certain behaviour, most likely we can find a sickness for it, what do you think?

Yes - they have basically coded every facet of being a kid as a disease diagnosis so they can dope kids up. Don't get me started. I'll bet you every single kid that has shot up a school has been on psych drugs.
Reply:I think you are correct. It has been used as a excuse for a lot of crimes this day and time to try and get the guilty person off by saying he was "sick".
Reply:I agree with you especially with mental illness because not only are people giving a reason forepeople with illness a excuse there also labeling them.
Reply:i'm usually a real scientist, but i do think the labeling of certain characteristics is getting out of control. i haven't looked at a dsm-IV lately, but i'm sure its about a trillion pages now.

i used to be all for better living through chemistry, but now it's like "oh, you're a perfectionist- here try this"..... "what? you can't get anywhere on time? take one of these twice a day and call me in the morning...

jeez,,,,,,,,,,
Reply:to a certain extent..yes...it gives people a "reason" to make bad decisions and blame it on a condition. But for others that really do have legitimate problems the naming of a condition can provide some relief. Because if you know what it is you can treat it (supposidly.)
