Are my kids odd with naming there pets?

We have many pets 2 cockiteils(girl and boy),3 rats(white one, brown one and half bauld one),1 hamster(hamster)1 turtle(turtle), 2 rabbits(mom and dad bunny) ,2 dogs(narnia and kitty) and 2 cats(kitty and chacha). I have 5 kids so all the animals that can be picked up are all the time and all are well taken care of because I do that part.

Are my kids odd with naming there pets?
I wouldn't worry about it. The kids are naturally going to name the animals something. Whatever works for them and the animals is OK. Animals really don't care what their name is as long as they know what it is. I have quite a few pets with names that some people think are stupid but it works for me and the animals.
Reply:LoL! It's kind of cute! Either they have very small vocabularies, or they have a very unique pespective on things. As long as your kids aren't named boy, girl, one, two, son, daughter or anything like that you should be fine! LoL! Kids will be kids. That sure is a lot of pets and kids!!! My question is how do get your dog and your cat to tell the difference between eachother when you say kitty? LoL! Your home just sounds like fun! =) It's nice that you let them express their individuality by naming the pets. Don't feel odd!
Reply:they are kids, they pick the names that are cool to them, and they feel good being able to name there pet, when i had a parrot i named it birdie, cuz he was a bird, and when i had a cat i named it kitty, and when i had a fish i named him stinky because he pooped alot,so if you go to the vet and they ask your pets name just laugh and say my children named them , and not olny kids give weird names parents do too,
Reply:ha! are the cockateels male and female? are the rabbits male and female too? it'd be funnier if it was two females named mom and dad. i had a dog named duckie as a child (from the land before time) and a rabbit named kitty-dog.
Reply:My question is, how do you survive with 5 kids and all those pets?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Reply:My hamster's name is hamster...
Reply:hahaha!

Reply:Um ... what?
Reply:In the prime of my early college days I had two parakeets: a blue male and a green female. There names? Blue Boy and Green Girl. Later I got a beautiful grey or silver parakeet, a male, and I bet you can guess his name: Silver Boy. But, I got original and just nicknamed him "Silver". But, the best one came when my wife and I (this was some 30 years later and I had GRADUATED from college for the third time - so I was supposed to be REAL smart, right?) we were given a wonderful German Shepherd pup. His name was "Rocky", like the Sylvester Stallone character. But, as I kept walking him throughout the neighbor, I was just too embarrassed to call out "Rocky" real loud in order to get him to come back to me, so, one day I hollered out, "Look, you mutt, if you don't get back here, (blah, blah, blah .. .)". And the next time he walked away from me and didn't return promptly, I called out again, "Look, you mutt, (blah, blah, blah . . .)". After a few more times of this, it dawned on me. I was calling him "Mutt", and he was answering me, so, why don't I just say his real name would be "Mutt". I thought it was a great idea. My wife didn't, so, since neither of us would agree to the other name, our wonderful German Shepherd now had two names. When he heard me calling him, he expected to hear the name "Mutt". When my wife called him, he expected to hear "Rocky". And you shoulda heard how our veterinarian's office had a hard time keeping records on our German Shepherd. When he went in one time, they had to give him dog tags with the name "Rocky" on it, but the next time they HAD to give him tags with the name "Mutt" on it. One time they got it wrong, so I made them go back and make new tags with "Mutt" on it. AND, to top it off, "Mutt" and I had a new understanding: If he misbehaved, I was going to dee-mote him to "Dawg"!! He got the message, as he hung his head in shame everytime I had to "scold" him with that threat. So, if you think your kids are odd, now what do you think of us middle aged, college educated, parents / grandparents. And imagine what our kids and grandkids think of us. And we're really conservative people. We just have our quirks!!! LOL!! God Bless you.
