Who else thinks that the naming of races has become a bit dorky?

I was just looking at the upcoming Nationwide schedule. What next?

Who else thinks that the naming of races has become a bit dorky?
I'd just drop dead if ever one were ever to be named the Summer's Eve 400

Reply:No doubt. One of the great things about F1 is that the races are called stuff like, The Japanese Grand Prix, The Monaco Grand Prix, etc. In Nascar, we get the Hardees 250. F1 is far more popular than Nascar and sponsorships are more expensive, yet when watch a race, you are not flooded by sponsor plugs.
Reply:Hey if a sponsor wants to put their name on the event more power to them. Is that the Phoenix race? Used to be the Bashas for a long time but because the track has 2 events the Bashas Supermarkets name is on the first race.

I was playing Nascar 98 last nite and one of the fantasy tracks has the name of the race The Press Start 500 or something.
Reply:Some of them aren't bad at all but I agree, some are questionable. Just like baseball stadiums, they have changed to corporation names. I don't like it because the bottom line is it's all about the $$$.They sure like to take things over. Even the name of the series...what was wrong with the "Busch Series"? It worked for years. JMO

Reply:Welcome to corporate America. Sadly most races, college bowl games, and stadiums have a company name attached to it. Hell even minor league sports teams have ads sown on the jerseys just like NASCAR.
Reply:I hate it as much as I do the naming of football bowl games. It's absurd. Anybody remember the "Batman Begins Michigan 400?"

That was stupid.

Reply:I see what you are saying...but thats how they get their product in the spotlight...by paying BIG bucks to have it on the car.

It could be worse. Think feminine products.
Reply:It may seem dorky, but its a sponsor for the race! Atleast they arent going unsponsored.
Reply: Well there are worst names.Imagine if Playtex were the sponsor of the event,

Think I'll stick Hefty.
Reply:who else thinks speedy23 is becoming a little dorky?
Reply:Yep I agree Dorky for sure. But those Dorky names are paying the big bucks to get there. Hey its all about the $$$$$$$
Reply:What do you mean...That would be saying that the names of products are getting dorky...so no I dont.
Reply:Money talks. If I had the money, I could name it whatever I want. The Tom G. 500!
Reply:Hey, at least it's not another Camping World RV 400!
Reply:MONEY$ IS WHAT MAKES THEM GO ROUND
Reply:Evidently you have no clue about how sponsorship works.
