Why is everyone naming their kid Aiden or something that rhymes with Aiden?

Is that the cool thing nowadays? Aiden, Braiden, Caiden, Jayden, etc.

Why is everyone naming their kid Aiden or something that rhymes with Aiden?
Its very popular and modern. I like it but Im thinking of naming my other kids old fashioned names, so I have a bit of a problem.

Reply:i know!!! it all ends with an "en". LOL
Reply:It's probably popular because of the "Sex and the City" character. I wouldn't EVER use one of these names on my children, though Aiden is kind of cute. Brayden and Jayden I seriously dislike. And Caden? Seriously?

I'm with you!

Reply:Because no one can think for themselves anymore.
Reply:girls are a social bunch that rarely think for themselves. so it's common in a class of kids to have 5 -10 kids with the same first name. each year you have a popular a celebrity who's name gets used for the new babies arriving so you end up with a few million: heathers, michaels, antonys, ... i'm guessing there is a celebrity with some for of aiden in their name.
Reply:The trend with boys is Aiden, Brayden, Hayden, Jayden, Rayden, Zayden, C/Kaden

%26amp; it seems with girl names its anything with Elle or Ella

Not judging tho because i am a fan of some names:

Aiden, Brayden, Caden, Gabriella %26amp; Isabella :)
Reply:First, I am not some clueless, selfish 'girl'. I am a 30-something woman, who has never watched "Sex and the City" and really likes Irish/Scottish names. Faced with the possibility of a son named Adrian, I said no. I wanted a name that was close in sound to that. I went with Aidan. My son is 2 1/2, and at the time of his early birth, I was unaware that Aidan and similiar sounding names were as popular as they are. I would not change my son's name to appease anyone. He is Aidan (spelled correctly, mind you) William. If he ever has a sister or brother those names would also be Irish/Scottish origin: Elspeth and Declan. Can you find fault in those also?
