Why do famous people keep naming their children after themselves?

e.g. the british royal family, the keep having names such and george!

Why do famous people keep naming their children after themselves?
either they are obsessed with themselves, they want to be remembered, they want the name to stay in the family, or its tradition
Reply:Okay, don't laugh, it's a naming English/British tradition. My family has it too. I have no ideas why, I have way to many Charles and Georges, Donald's on my family tree. So many, I had trouble figuring out which is my g uncle and which is my gg grandfather etc. I gave up! If it ever becomes a problems easier to genetically test me. LOL


I of course couldn't wait to break tradition and have a name that's different.

the only purpose of famous people is to be know all over the world and when they pass away they want their names to be mentioned between people as if they're still alive...........


only by naming their children after themselves they can help them become just like their parents(oh! look..that's MS jone's child..........please let me kiss him!!! let me hold him..please i want to smell the stardom's smell.......and so on)..


don't try to be a star.otherwise photographers will run after you even in the toilet !hhhhhh.........sry i'm joking again

Reply:Ordinary people do it too, my sons middle name is William, so is his dad's and his grandads and his greatdads and his great great grandads, it's a family tradition that we've kept going, and my son loves the fact that he has the same name as his dad.
Reply:its not just celebs, it happens to people like us to, there are a few lees and pauls in our family, the way we do it is big lee little lee amys lee and abis lee and there are 2 pauls and its brother paul and joannes paul lol

well, I think the Royal Family probably like traditional Brit names, so they keep using them.





but for big Hollywood celebs? they just love themselves too much.
Reply:Because that is royalty and makes the name end with "the third" or blah blah. Celebrities do not name their children after themselves. They name them after objects like apple or mango lol.

In the Royal Family they want to keep the name alive because it is a family name? e.g. Henry II, Henry III I'm not really sure and famous people just want their children to be recongised too..
Reply:this isnt just the royals alot of uk people do this name their sons after their farthers. but ur question? famous people name some other famous people who do this. who isnt a royal of any other country
Reply:Thats not just famous people, its really common i n normal people too. My dad is called dave, so is his dad, and so was his dad!
