Seriously considering naming my daughter Maven-What do you think?

Father hates this name-but I have been pondering on it for over 3 months now-I find myself daydreaming-holding our newborn girl and whispering Maven.

I love it. Its Unique for a girl. My daughter name is Masyn, but Maven is Really Cute!
Reply:Maven is a pretty name, but if the father hates it, perhaps he can pick a name to go with it so both of you will be happy.

You'd probably use May for short any way. What would you use for a middle name? I think someone suggested Rose. That sounds good togther and sounds good as a grown proffessional womens name. Ms Maevan Rose Kennedy will now lead us.....you get it. And I picked a last name

Reply:it's a lovely name but doesn't quite suit being a first name--a middle name should be better. So I guess no. If you really like the sound of it there's always an alternative like May (but I still feel that it's a middle name material also)





As for suggestions, it really depends what you're looking for--uncommon names? names starting with M? or just any?





I quite like the A names - Alexis, Annabelle and Ayla


[I have a friend called 'Ayla', a really pretty name but not common.]


As for other names--- I quite adore Ebony, Nicola and Phillipa (nickname Pip).





M names--well, Madison is my favourite M name and it's actually isn't as common as I thought it would be.

Reply:no! think what her nickname would be! Mave? mavy? that's horrible. try something more classic, and girl-like. maven could easily be a boy name, and most girls don't appreciate that. unless you raise her as a tomboy. then it's okay.

Reply:Maven sounds like a boys name .. it sounds very strong and robust! like back in the viking days.. "Here here Maven"..lol if you have to go with "Maven" take off the "N".. Mava sounds like a female. (Mav-a). . then you can whisper little mava to sleep.
