What title could we use instead of godparents? We are having a naming day for our son & want it non religious?

We are having "godparents" but want them to be people that our son can feel comfortable going to during his life with questions/problems if he feels he can't come to us, so they won't be "guiding" him religiously like a godparent would. We would like to give them a special title for the naming day ceremony formalities

Ah,very commendable,how about life guides,mentors,life mentors,secondaries,step guardians,watchers,overwatchers. That's all I can come up with.
Reply:guardians sounds okay but wouldnt be politically correct. great parents. because there's no such things. theres great-grand-parents. but no great-parents. but that sounds dumb. guide parents kinda sounds like god parents but makes more sense.or if you have any kinda cultural thing going on in the family use a different language. like in spanish they are called madrino and madrina, no religious affiliation with the name.
