Was the original York great enough to warrant the naming of a New York?

because I know I'll get zero answers to this

Poll:

NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX?

Was the original York great enough to warrant the naming of a New York?
New York used to be New Amsterdam.... York was the name of the Duke it was named after.

Fox...I love to laugh at their "quality" entertainment.
Reply:NBC.

We have a town close by called New Boston. hmmmmmmmmm.

Where the hell is Old Boston? Where is Old York? We also have a New Burg.

Did people just get lazy or what?
Reply:the original settlers seemed to think so.so i suppose.

and none of those at least for news.

Fox for funny cartoon shows.
Reply:It was originaly New Amsterdam - maybe it didnt sound as catchy as New York in a song?

Fox - I like the cartoons.
Reply:Hm... It wasn't originally called that but I digress. Didn't they make Peppermint Patties?

Fox! All the animated shows are there.
Reply:Fox cause it got family guy, simpsons, house, Football and WorldSeries
Reply:York is a nice area in England. But it was more likely named in honor of the Duke who helped fund English settlers sent there to uproot the Dutch (who had named their settlement New Amsterdam).
Reply:Maybe they weren't very creative that day.... There have been a lot of places to name to be fair...

Poll: I'll say ABC, as it's the only one I've ever seen on British TV.
Reply:twas, twas

and fox
Reply:Of Course :) FOX
Reply:Yes i think so...

FOX ;)
