Why are people naming their babies Barack?

I read on the news earlier that a record number of people named Babies born yesterday Barack.. What's up with that?

Why are people naming their babies Barack?
I think it kinda neat. They are naming their children after a very important day in US history. What a great way to honor our president elect!

PS: Mr. Obama is not president. George Bush is. Mr.Obama is President-elect. He will not become president (as things seem now) until the inauguration in January. Learn your basic civics.
Reply:What's the big deal, people have named their children worse things. It was an eventful day in history. Why do people name girls born in April, April. Or June, June? Why do people name their kids after cities? Houston, Dallas, Savannah.


Or after flowers?
