I dont get this... how come this name is back in... it reminds me of an old woman like Audrey of Coronation Street... oh and why im asking is Aubrey pronounced the same?
What with everyone naming their kids Audrey?
Audrey is a timeless beauty, and much more popular in the US than the UK. I'd take Audrey over made-up crap any day
Aubrey is pronounced aw-bree, whereas Audrey is aw-dree. Aubrey is originally a boys name that has been used on girls
Reply:It seems like you have three choices when naming your kids these days.
1. Either go with a trendy, popular name.
2. Try to be completely different and unique by making up a name, or using one that is just plain odd.
3. Go back in time to use a real name, but one that is not used as often these days.
I never liked Audrey growing up, but it has grown on me. It's nice. Besides, the first few times I heard the name Hannah I thought the same thing. Names I guess come back so that your kid is not just another Emily or Madison.
Reply:I didnt know it was becoming popular....and i know some young cute audreys %26amp; aubreys so it doesnt make me think of a old woman. those are such cute names!! and no Aubrey is not pronounced the same its AuB-ree just like audrey cept with a B! =D
Reply:No, Audrey has a "D," and Aubrey has a "B," therefore they are pronounced differerently.
Reply:why would aubrey be pronounced the same? auD rey and auB rey.
i quite like audrey. it reminds me of audrey hepburn.
Reply:Audrey is a really cute name. That's why. Aubrey is pronounced as it's spelled, with a B instead of a D. I like Aubrey Elizabeth. It's so cute.
Reply:I am happy to agree with you. Audrey is old, and I do think of old ladies when I hear it. But I am biased towards nature based or familial names so I don't do name-names anyway. Audrey is every bit as "made-up" as any other word in a language.
Reply:I don't know... my mom's name is Audrey (she was born in the mid-sixties when it wasn't popular at all) and I think it's such a pretty name! Names go in and out of fashion, so keep that in mind. (For example, Lily was popular about ninety years ago for girls. Now everyone names their baby Lily!)
Reply:Because it is a classic name that never goes out of style. Elizabeth, Ella, Isabella , etc are other examples of names that will never get boring.
Reply:I think Aubrey or Aubree is cute
I like the name
It's trendy to name you child an old fashion name
Reply:Because it's timeless, classic and beautiful. Many, many names stand the 'test of time' such as Elizabeth and Christine. Aubrey is like Aw-Bree.
It's cute and I like both of them.
Reply:I think of Audrey as an old name, too. I've never liked it, but I guess it's back in. I just hope some nitwit doesn't decide to spell it Oddree.
